AHMEDABAD: A complaint has been lodged at
Banaskantha district police station against a Mumbai-based company for luring a person into getting
franchise of a company making bio-diesel
pump and later duping him of Rs 15,00,000.
According to the complainant lodged on May 26 by Balram Padhiyar, a resident of Ahmedabad, one Gaurang Chowksi of Ahmedabad approached him and told him that they had sold at least 100 bio-diesel pumps of different companies and if Padhiyar is interested, he can also join the business by securing its franchise.
Padhiyar said he got influenced by the glib talks of Chowksi and showed him a piece of land in the outskirts of Bhoyan village of Banaskantha as a prerequisite for getting the franchise. FIR mentions that the man promised him the franchise in six months.
According to the complainant, he paid Chowksi Rs 15,00,000 in two instalments. The company also gave him receipts for the payments, Padhiyar told the cops.
When Padhiyar didn’t get the franchise in six months, he initiated written communications with the company.
The FIR mentions that instead of allotting him the franchise or refunding the money, the company held him responsible for the situation. Banaskantha SP Pradeep Sejul confirmed that a complaint has been lodged in this connection and the police are investigating the matter.
