Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner reserved 50 of the 100 wards in the city for women and five of those exclusively for women.
District Collector K. Rajamani published the details of reservation in the Coimbatore District Gazette on May 24 and the Corporation released it on Monday.
Five wards for SC women
The Gazette said the Commissioner had reserved Wards 1, 2, 9, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, 48, 48, 50, 51, 54, 57, 58, 59, 62, 63, 64, 65, 67, 68, 70, 75, 77, 78, 79, 82, 83 and 84 for women and 3, 13, 61, 66 and 85 for SC women.
He also reserved Wards 60, 74, 80, 87 and 93 as Scheduled Castes (General), meaning only men or women from the communities could contest in the wards.
The Gazette also said that the Commissioner had reserved those wards based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission.
