OnePlus will soon roll out the fix for the OnePlus 7 Pro‘s (review) phantom touch issue via a firmware update. The company has finally addressed the issue, after repeated calls of the handset registering display inputs when it hasn’t been touched. The issue occurred mostly when using CPU-Z app, and there were suggestions that turning off NFC fixes the problem, which means that it was nothing but a software issue. OnePlus plans to roll out a patch to resolve the phantom issue on its latest flagship “in the coming weeks.“

In a statement to The Verge, OnePlus said, we have received limited reports from users describing their encounter of the “phantom taps” experience. Our team has worked hard to identify these cases, and we will release a firmware update in the upcoming weeks. The update will also solve other screen issues users have been facing with OnePlus 7 Pro. The exact date of the release remains a mystery at the moment.

The OnePlus 7 Pro, which has only been in the market for a matter of days, packs excellent 6.67-inch Fuild AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. The handset has a 16-megapixel pop-up selfie camera and a pair of 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel telephoto lens + 16-megapixel ultrawide lens on the rear. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, 4,000mAh battery with Warp charging, and Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS.
