PANAJI: As schools in Goa are set to reopen on June 6 for the new academic session 2018-19 after the summer break, the state government has asked parents to cooperate with the traffic police personnel posted. Parents have also been asked not to break traffic rules by carrying out wrong parking and letting their minor children ride bikes to schools.
“Adequate measures are being taken by traffic police to ensure smooth movement of vehicular traffic at and around the school premises to ensure safety of school children and smooth movement of vehicular traffic. All parents are also requested to cooperate with the Traffic Police and adhere to guidelines and ensure observance of all traffic rules while coming to drop/collect their ward(s) and do not park vehicles in the middle of the road,” the traffic police guidelines state.
Parents have been told not to allow their children to travel in overcrowded vehicles and also to consider the possibility of car pooling.

“In order to avoid congestion coordinate amongst yourself and explore the possibility of car pooling. The parents should avoid last minute hassles. The parents should not allow their minor/unlicensed ward to ride/drive to school. As it is an offence. Follow instruction of traffic police personnel and do not argue with him/her,” the guidelines states.
Over 2.60 lakh students studying from Class I to XII in nearly 1800 schools in Goa will return to class on June 6.
