Maharashtra: Physically challenged get grants from KMC to start business

KOLHAPUR: Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Tuesday distributed grants to 85 physically challenged people.
The grant of Rs 25,000 will be used by them to set up their own business. Earlier, the KMC distributed cabins to them to start their shops. However, not all opted for the cabins. Mayor Sarita More distributed the certificates of the grants and the amount will be deposited in their accounts through RTGS.
Civic chief Mallinath Kalshetti said that every year separate funds are allocated for the welfare of the physically challenged in the KMC's budget and released the funds in phased manner over the period of one year. Last year, 175 physically challenged people received cabins which are installed at the locations of their choice.
