MARGAO: The
Loco pilot of 70103 Down Pernem-Karwar DEMU
train saved a four-year-old boy running on the railway tracks, on Monday afternoon.
Somewhere between
Margao and Balli railway stations, loco pilot Suresh Kumar noticed the boy from metres away and braked just in time to stop the train from running over him.
“Kumar picked up the boy who was crying for his parents, and handed him over to the station master of Balli railway station at 12.08pm,” deputy manager, public relations, Baban Ghatge told reporters.
“Immediately after handing over the
child to the station master, the loco pilot ventured on the onward journey, while the passengers appreciated Kumar,” Ghatge added.
Around 12.45pm, the railway authorities then handed over the boy to Cuncolim police. After much efforts, Cuncolim police successfully traced the boy’s parents and handed him over to his mother.
