Nagpur: ‘An evening filled with melody’ is the best way to describe the event ‘Naye Purane Geeto Ka Sangam’ as city singers dished out a series of hit numbers to take the audience the down memory lane at Scientific Society Hall in Laxmi Nagar, on Monday.
The event was organized by Sanjay Hedau, Sanjay Pullarwar and Dilip Gadwe under the joint auspices of Sonorous group, Swarsadhna Sangeet Classes and Saaz group.
The musical journey started with the devotional aarti ‘Vithu mauli tu mauli jagachi, mauli tu mauli Vitthalachi’ sung by all the singers together in a complete harmony. It was followed by the song ‘Le to aaye ho hume sapno ke gaon mein’ sung in the beautiful voice of Sandhya Fuke and ‘Akhiyon ke jharokhe se’ sung by Seema.
The songs of famous singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Mukesh Kumar, Rahat Ali and SP Balasubrahmanyam were sung beautifully by the singers Ishwar Thosar, Prasanna Nair, Manjusha Pahade, Vaishali Kadbe, Dhanashree Mandaokar, Sanjay Hedau, Sanjay Pullarwar, Dilip Gadwe, Ganesh Nikam, Rupali Das Rao, Vinita Denge, Kamini Bhagwate, Sandhya Fuke and Seema.
Some of the evergreen songs sung were ‘Bol halke halke’, ‘Tujhko pukare mera pyaar’, ‘Apne pyaar ke sapne’, ‘Jara sa jhoom lu main’, ‘Sola baras ki bali umar’, ‘Chahe mujhe koi junglee kahe’, ‘Kuchh na kaho’ which transferred the audience into a different world.
The chief guest of the event was Sanjay Uttarwar of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology. Gayatri anchored the show in an indomitable style.
