Congress pushes for white paper on bank frauds

NEW DELHI: Congress on Tuesday asked the “BJP government” to issue a white paper on bank frauds, saying around 27,125 bank fraud cases amounting to Rs 1.74 lakh crore took place in the last five years.
Congress spokesman Jaiveer Shergill said, “Through an RTI query, it has been revealed that bank fraud cases rose in the last one year to 6,800 and involved Rs 71,500 crore.” He said in 2017-18, bank fraud cases stood at 5,916 to the tune of Rs 41,460 crore.

“BJP needs to come out of its poll celebration mode to rescue the sinking economy from bank frauds,” he said.
However, the press conference was interesting as he referred to the Centre as “BJP government” in place of the past practice of calling it “Modi government”.
