Hyderabad: Thieves strike it rich, scoot with Rs 10 lakh booty

HYDERABAD: Burglars struck at five houses on the outskirts of the city on Sunday night and escaped with Rs 10 lakh worth property.
Around 10.30pm on Sunday, businessman D Anand Kumar of Sai Dharani Colony Phase-II in Nagaram along with his family went for shopping to Charminar. When they returned at 3.30am, the family found the main door lock broken. The family discovered that burglars opened an almairah and stole Rs 1.1 lakh cash, 11 tola gold and a mobile phone, all worth Rs 3.4 lakh.
Burglars also struck at the residence of private employee Srikanth from Suchitra Colony in Rampally. Srikanth had gone to Jangaon.
On Monday, Srikanth returned home and noticed the main door latch was removed from its socket. He told police that Rs 12,000 worth silver articles were stolen from his house.
On Sunday night, burglars broke into three houses in Mucherla village near Kandukur and stole Rs 5 lakh cash and Rs 1.5 lakh worth gold. The offenders stole Rs 6000 cash from the house of T Nirmalamma and Rs 15,000 cash and 2.5 tola gold from her neighboour M Mangamma’s house. The families slept on the terrace and the burglars gained entry by breaking the main door locks.

Police suspect the same gang could be involved in the burglary at supervisor M Narasimha’s house in Mucherla on Sunday night
Narasimha stated he went to Nalgonda on Sunday and burglars stole four tola gold and Rs 5 lakh cash.
