Mumbai: Arvind Sawant who won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from South Mumbai on Shiv Sena ticket and appointed as Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises said in an exclusive interview with our sister publications Navshakti that he will take efforts to resuscitate moribund companies and generate employment opportunities out of it. Sawant, a loyal Sena party worker hails from a mill workers family.
“I participated in various workers’ union rallies and protests held for their rights. I have closely worked for them and therefore I am well aware of their issues and demands. I strongly believe that besides fulfilling workers’ demands the companies should also survive,” said Sawant. Interestingly, Sawant is the only MP from Sena who was selected by Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray from his 18 MP who won the Lok Sabha elections.
Sawant further added that he was first informed by Thackeray over the phone that he will one among the 128 MPs who will be taking an oath for the ministry in the centre. “It was the happiest moment of my life. I never thought of it before, that the party will give me such a huge responsibility. Our party chief has always appreciated my work,” asserted Sawant.
