In Haryana, minister faces FIR for ‘booth capturing’

ROHTAK: A court in Rohtak ordered on Monday the registration of an FIR against Haryana cooperatives minister Manish Grover and history sheeter Ramesh Lohar for alleged “booth capturing” on May 12, the date Haryana voted in the Lok Sabha elections.

Disposing of the petition filed by advocate Lokinder Singh Phogat, the court of the judicial magistrate allowed registration of an FIR against Grover and Ramesh Bohar, alias Lohar, under the CrPC and Arms Act. Phogat had filed a complaint on May 15, when the first hearing in the case was held. The petitioner had alleged that Grover had connived with Lohar to interfere with the voting. Both accused had also threatened him, he added.
The petitioner said he had complained to the election office and had informed Congress candidate Deepender Hooda. Lohar and the others were arrested by the police and sent to jail after he was found moving about polling booths and after illegal weapons, illegal vehicles and number plates were recovered from him.
