JC Daniel Award for Sheela

Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran actor Sheela has bagged the J C Daniel Award 2018 for overall contribution to Malayalam film industry. An anouncement in this regard was made by cultural affairs minister A K Balan here on Tuesday.
The top film award instituted by the state government, which comprises cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, citation and statuette, will be presented to the actor at the state film award distribution ceremony to be held at Nishagandhi Auditorium here on July 27.

Sheela was chosen by a committee chaired by filmmaker K S Sethumadhavan and actor Nedumudi Venu, scriptwriter John Paul, Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal and cultural affairs secretary Rani George as its members.
‘Bhagyajathakam’ (1962), directed by P Bhaskaran was Sheela’s first film in Malayalam. She won her first state award for the film ‘Kallichellamma’ in 1969.
