An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 struck Japan’s Torishima Island region, the weather agency said on Tuesday.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the temblor struck at 1340 hrs local time, at a latitude of 29.1 degrees north and a longitude of 139.8 degrees east. Further details are awaited.
