Youth held for abetting lover’s suicide

Surat: A 19-year-old man working in a courier firm was arrested by police for abetting suicide of his 18-year-old lover here on Sunday. Vishal alias Viraj Boriya was in a relationship with the girl.
Boriya on Friday last told the girl through social media that he can’t marry her. The girl told him she would hang self from a ceiling fan. Boriya told her to stop being dramatic which irked her and she hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her bedroom.
The girl’s mother filed a complaint against Boriya subsequent to which he was booked for abetting her suicide and arrested. A police officer said, “The accused admitted that he was in love with the girl. He says that since he was just 19 years old, he refused to marry her. The accused says when she told him she would commit suicide, he thought she was joking.
We have seized the cellphone of the accused. Both belonged to same caste and had a physical relationship. We will be presenting him in the court soon.” tnn
