BENGALURU:
Kothanur police arrested 21
foreign nationals on Saturday in a drive against
overstaying foreigners. The arrested are from Nigeria, Congo, Uganda, Ivory Coast and Tanzania.
Kala Krishnaswamy, deputy commissioner of police (northeast), said the suspects had come to India on student and
business visas, but neither renewed their visas nor returned home. They are in judicial custody.
Pickford William, 37, of Hegde Nagar and Hoja Kwamena, 30, of Kothanur were in possession of
fake passports and visas. A separate case of cheating was registered against the duo. The other 19 suspects have been booked under the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939 and Foreigners Act,1946.
In another case, an Ivory Coast national was arrested on charges of drugpeddling. A weighing machine, 650gm of ganja and Rs 1,000 cash were recovered from him. Sow Mamadu Pate, 21, a resident of Kyalasanahalli.
