Rajasthan Human Rights Commission sought a report after a video purportedly showing a doctor beating a patient went viral on social media. The incident is said to have occured inside government-run Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur.
Hospital administration was quoted by news agencies as saying that the patient named Mubarik (30) manhandled a female doctor and fought with a male doctor who tried to calm him down. Mubarik hails from Uttar Pradesh and he was admitted to the hospital on June 1. He was receiving treatment for a type of poisoning with gastritis.
The video shows the doctor slapping the patient inside a ward.

"The video circulated on social media seems to be edited. A disciplinary committee will investigate the matter and a report will be submitted to the Rajasthan Human Rights Commission as well. The patient is now fit to be discharged," SMS Hospital Superintendent Dr D S Meena told PTI.
Rajasthan Human Rights Commission said that assaulting a patient is a severe crime.
The commission has sought a report by June 25.
