Family stores jewellery in garage before leaving for tour; returns to find it stolen

Mysuru: Jewellery worth over Rs 1 lakh that was kept in a car shed has been stolen by miscreants in Mysuru.

Nazarbad police received a complaint from Savitha of Vidyanagar that her jewellery worth about Rs 1.5 lakh is missing from where it was kept. She claimed that before going to Kollegal along with husband and children after locking their house, she had kept the jewellery in the car shed believing it would be safe. According to the complaint the family left in mid-May and returned on May 31 only to find the jewellery missing.
The complainant claimed the door of the car shed was forcibly opened and the jewellery was taken away. Nazarbad police, however, doubt the veracity of the complaint saying prima facie it appears there is no truth in it. Since a complaint has been filed, police have taken up investigation.
