The kindergarten students of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Panneerselvam Park, here, were welcomed with garlands, gifts and chocolates by their teachers on Monday, the first day of their school life.
R. Balamurali, Chief Education Officer, Erode, said that kindergarten classes were started in 90 schools across the district and over 200 students have been admitted so far. He said that the strength would increase in the coming days as headmasters and teachers were asked to focus on admissions.
New syllabus
Officials said that the syllabus has been revamped for Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 12 and distribution of books began on Monday. Teachers said that they needed time to prepare themselves for the new syllabus. Meanwhile, biometric attendance has been made mandatory for teachers and non-teaching staff in high and higher secondary schools from June 3. They have been asked to mark their attendance in the fingerprint machine as well as in the register.
Officials said that the details of around 4,000 teachers and non-teaching staff were already linked to the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System and was successfully implemented in all the high and higher secondary schools in the district.
