NU exam section again resorts to unfair means in MA result

Nagpur: Nagpur University postgraduate students from eight courses were shocked to receive marksheets dated April 16 even though their results were announced only on May 29.
This left students baffled as the deadline to fill the backlog or revaluation forms is 15 days from the date of results. In this case, not only students were being deprived of applying for revaluation, if they wanted to, but also levied late fees.
The dates have been allegedly manipulated to enable the NU exam section to show a better record of result announcements.
In 2017, several students had complained of the same problem at the time when the university boasted about achieving 80% result announcement within the stipulated 30-day deadline and rest in the 45-day period.
TOI had exposed the exam section’s illegal act of releasing backdated results in MSc (Electronics) and MSc (Chemistry) two years ago. Though the result was yet to be declared, students were baffled to find the course listed under ‘Result’ tab on Nagpur University’s website. They were further shocked when they entered their roll numbers to get the marklist but got only a blank screen. While the marklist was missing, the page carried a message stating ‘provisional marklist’ and ‘final credit based marksheet will be issued later’. It also stated that ‘this marksheets is valid for applying for reassessment and supplementary exams and for admission to the next semester’.
However, the illegal act had robbed many backlog students of the option to apply for revaluation as according to the date printed on the marklist, ten days had already passed when they received it.
In the MA case, the duration was over a month and therefore teachers and students were left aghast.

Former management council member Mahendra Nimbarte said the colleges were demanding Rs2000 to Rs3000 from gullible students. “I called up the Pro-VC Pramod Yeole and demanded redressal of the issue,” he said.
The NU officials assured Nimbarte that no such students will be levied fine.
