MUMBAI: After an HR professional tweeted a photograph of a helmetless cop on a motorcycle on May 16, asking whether different rules apply to policemen, the Mumbai police issued the cop an e-challan last week. However, as of Sunday evening, he had not paid the Rs 500 fine.

"Request that you educate all your force to be compliant with road safety rules. Else fine them like common citizens," read Swati Datye's tweet addressed to the Mumbai police. They responded promptlty, asking for the cop's license plate details and the exact location of the photograph. Datye then tweeted another photograph that had a clearer view of the license plate, and said that the incident had occurred near Priyadarshini Circle in Chembur. The city Police notified Datye that action had been taken, and shared the issued e-challan's number.
By checking on the traffic department's app, TOI found that the fine remained unpaid till Sunday.
