Retirement funds among Rs5L booty stolen in separate incidents

Nagpur: Cash and valuables, totalling worth Rs5lakh, were stolen in incidents reported at three different police stations in the city on Sunday. In all the cases police have launched a probe to nab the accused.
In the first incident, retirement money and other valuables, total worth Rs1.13 lakh, were stolen from the residence of Vijay Marbate at Raghuji Nagar on Sunday. Marbate, a retired employee of GMCH, had gone to a wedding function at around 11am along with his wife Asha when the burglar sneaked into his house by breaking the lock of the front gate.
The burglary came to light when Marbate returned and spotted the lock broken. He informed Sakkardara police who rushed to spot and conducted spot panchnama. Cops said cash Rs1 lakh was stolen from the cupboard. It is learnt, Marbate had received the cash during his retirement. He had kept the money at home for his daughter’s wedding planned for the next year.
Cops said no CCTV cameras were installed in the area.
In another incident, house of Dharmendra Singh Yadav, 40, at New Panjra was targeted by a burglar who decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs1.88 lakh between May 25 and Sunday. According to police, Yadav had gone to Banaras for a marriage function along with his family. The burglar broke open the lock and sneaked into the house before stealing valuables kept inside the locker of the cupboard. The burglary came to light when Yadav spotted the broken lock and informed police.

Koradi police are scrutinizing CCTV footages from the nearby areas to identify the burglars.
In the third incident, house of Vijay Meshram, 50, at Babulban was targeted by a burglar who decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs2.10 lakh between May 29 and Monday. Meshram was not in the city when the incident happened.
