Head-On Collision Might Have Been Caused By Tunnel Operator’s Mistake

A forceful collision took place late last month in a tunnel, where a dashcam-equipped vehicle simply couldn’t avoid getting hit by an incoming black crossover.

Now, while it may seem as though the latter was in the wrong, according to multiple Redditors there’s a chance tunnel operators may have been responsible for this accident, especially given the late hours at which it took place (1:27 AM).

Some think that if the lanes were reversible and an operator made the mistake of letting traffic through on both sides, then that would mean that neither driver is at fault for what happened. Of course, we have no way of knowing if that’s indeed the case.

The only thing that’s made clear by the footage is that both drivers attempted to avoid the crash, but unfortunately both had the same idea in using the opposite lane in order to steer clear. By the time the driver of the crossover attempted to move back to the right, it was already too late.

The vehicles made contact in pretty much the worst way possible – a small overlap impact. The reason why this is worse than a full head-on crash and even worse than a moderate overlap impact is because your car ends up utilizing a much smaller percentage of its deformable structure in order to absorb the forces of the collision, which is very bad for the occupants…

We can only hope that all individuals involved made it out without any serious injuries.
