Beyonce\'s mom hopes \'Lion King\' themed art gala raises millions for charity

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The third annual Wearable Art Gala in Santa Monica, California, celebrated African American artists, culture and tradition, and featured an auction of fine art pieces to raise money for artistic mentorship programs. The specific theme for the evening was "A Journey to the Pride Lands", based on the upcoming Disney film "The Lion King," which stars Beyonce as the lioness Nala.

The guests, who included actor and comedian Tiffany Haddish plus Beyonce's former 'Destiny's Child' bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, interpreted the theme with colorful feathers, robes and elaborate headdresses.

The gala's honorees were 92-year-old Los Angeles artist Betye Saar, actor and comedian Tyler Perry, philanthropist Felicia Horowitz plus Richelieu Dennis, the entrepreneur owner of Essence magazine.
