The husband of a pilates instructor allegedly spanked by Sir Philip Green threatened to ‘beat the c**p’ out of the billionaire, police interviews reveal.

The Topshop tycoon has been charged with four counts of assault in the US over claims he slapped the bottom of a woman at a luxury spa in Arizona.

Katie Surridge, 37, who worked at Canyon Ranch Resort, near the city of Tuscon has told of how Sir Philip grabbed her bottom and spanked her during exercise classes in 2016 and 2018.

Lawyers representing the 67-year-old, who owns a property within the complex, are due to appear in court later this month to respond to misdemeanour assault charges.

If found guilty, he could face jail or a fine. Sir Philip is not expected to travel to the US himself and will not be extradited from the UK.

He has always denied the allegations.

Now, a police interview with Mrs Surridge has revealed that her husband, Josh, considered confronting Sir Philip over the alleged assault when bosses allegedly failed to respond appropriately to her concerns.

Mrs Surridge told officers: ‘My husband worked there (at Canyon Ranch) at the time and he met with us because he clearly was pissed off and you know, he was going to go to the guy’s house and, you know, beat the c**p out of him.

‘But instead we went to this meeting.’

Mrs Surridge says she met with bosses at the resort, previously visited by A-listers including Hollywood star Julia Roberts, and asked them to take action following the alleged incident with Sir Philip.

The reputation of the ex-BHS boss ‘preceded him’ she said, adding: ‘Everybody in the ranch property just kinda knew to try and avoid him because he is who he is’.

Sir Philip, who has a fortune of £2.7billion according to Forbes, would boast of hosting people on his private jet, she claimed.

‘He would put his arms around you and be like: ‘I’m gonna take you to Vegas, you’re gonna fly on my jet with me to Vegas and we’re gonna go,’ Mrs Surridge told Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

‘Everyone dreads when he’s there,’ she later added.

The comments were echoed by Kimberly Khoury, who owns a home on the Canyon Ranch estate.

Miss Khoury told of how she witnessed Sir Philip’s ‘octopus’ hands touch the pilates instructor.

‘I don’t want to live in a community where this kind of behaviour is OK,’ she said.

‘I remember thinking to myself, I don’t know why she doesn’t just punch him,’ she added.
