MUMBAI: A video clip of an
idli vendor from Borivli (W) filling water from a toilet has gone viral on social media. The Borivli police on Thursday lodged a non-cognisable complaint after being approached by a few citizens.
In the video, the vendor is seen filling a can from a public toilet and carrying it to his stall outside Borivli station, opposite the police station. The police said the vendor had prepared the idlis at home and he was using the water to wash plates and hands.
"We have taken permission from the Borivli magistrate's court to investigate this case further. We have also informed the BMC and Food and Drugs Administration to look into the matter," said senior inspector Laxman Dumbre of Borivli police station.
The incident comes two months after the video of a stall worker at Kurla station preparing lime juice in unhygienic condition went viral on social media.
