JAIPUR: Two New Delhi-based women have alleged that they were gang-raped at gunpoint by three youths in
Nagaur about a week ago, on pretext of providing employment and training.
While the alleged incident took place on May 25, the police said they received the complaint on
WhatsApp only on Saturday evening, following which an FIR was registered. The requisite procedures including medical examination of the survivors, could not follow as the women are still in New Delhi and are expected to arrive in Nagaur on Monday.
The women in their complaint to the police said they had come to Nagaur on May 25, when an accused took them in his car to a secluded place, where three of his friends there took turns to rape them. The duo said the trio had threatened to kill them as one of the accused carried a gun. “They have alleged in the complaint that they had met a boy on
Facebook who promised to get them jobs in Nagaur city. He also asked them to come to Rajasthan with Rs20,000 as a training fee, which the accused later snatched from them,” an official said, adding that the girls are about 19 to 20 years old.
“The information is scarce at this point as the girls are yet to come to Nagaur. On May 27, they had gone to the Sadar police station to file an FIR. But just as one of them had begun to write the complaint, they told us that they wanted to go to New Delhi and would file an FIR after consulting their families,” the official said, adding that a police constable escorted them to the railway station where they boarded a Delhi-bound train. “Since Monday, we have been requesting them to file an FIR. Finally on Saturday evening, they filed a complaint which became the basis of the FIR. There was no delay from our end,” an official said. However, Nagaur SP has set up an inquiry under an additional SP (ASP) rank officer to check the alleged delay, if any, in the registration of the FIR.
