Stray dog attacks girl on Chandigarh Road

Ludhiana: A stray dog attacked a six-year-old girl outside her house in Sector 32-A on Chandigarh Road on Thursday evening.
Punish Vohra, the girl’s father, said, “After returning from tuition, my daughter, Daania, went out to play with her friends. A stray dog came from behind and caught her leg. On hearing her cries, neighbours came to her rescue. It tried to bite other kids too. My son was also playing with Daania, but went inside minutes before the attack. Had he been there, the dog would have bitten him too.”
Vohra, who is into dairy farming business, said there were over 15 stray dogs in their street. “Residents are scared of stepping out. The dog who attacked my daughter had bitten others too in the past few months. The authorities should find a solution to the problem,” he added.
There has been a spurt in dog bite cases in the city.

A few days ago, a stray dog had attacked a 4-year-old boy in Doraha.
Municipal corporation senior veterinary officer Dr YP Singh said, “We are doing our bit to sterilize stray dogs, though the pace is slow. Dogs were found sterilized in some of the areas from where we have been receiving complaints.”
