AGRA: A
Delhi-based resident was killed and three others were injured in a road accident on
Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Saturday.
The accident took place at around 5:30am, near milestone 48 of Sikandarpur village under Nasirpur police jurisdiction of
UP's
Firozabad district, when the victim along with his wife was heading to Siwan district of Bihar in an ambulance carrying his mother-in-law’s body.
The victim was identified as Sushant Kumar (45) of Uttam Nagar, South Delhi. His wife Amrita (40) was injured and was in deep trauma when admitted in local government hospital. The two drivers of the ambulance Indar and Sushil too were injured. The ambulance was driven by Indar.
Speaking to TOI, Jitender Kumar Diwedi, station house officer of Nasirpur, said, “The accident occurred probably after the driver fell asleep on steering wheels. The ambulance’s front was crushed to junk metal which suggests that driver of the ambulance rammed into rear of heavy truck. The victim’s wife is in trauma and unable to speak, but we have contacted their relatives, who will take the bodies for last rites.”
Earlier on Friday late night, two Agra women were injured in road accident on Yamuna Expressway, after their hatchback rammed into divider.
The accident took place at around 11:30pm near Raya interchange in Mathura district. The injured women were identified as Shashi and Senha Kumar, residents of Bhawan estate, Sikandara police jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, in another road accident on Saturday evening, nearly 10 persons were injured and one killed after a SUV ferrying the victims to Bah plunged into roadside pit near Arnota village of Basai Arela police jurisdiction.
The victim was identified as Deendayal (60). Police team rescued the injured victims and took them to hospital. The injured hailed from Mohanlal Ki Gadi village of Niboraha police jurisidciton. According to police, the speeding SUV driver lost control on vehicle near Utanagan river bridge and plunged into pit.
