Gurgaon: A 48-year-old man succumbed to his
injuries in Delhi’s
Safdarjung Hospital, a week after being allegedly
thrashed by a gang of four in
Surat Nagar.
According to the police, Padam Singh — who worked in a factory and lived in Surat Nagar — allegedly had an argument with his neighbour Nikki over some trivial issue around 6pm on May 23.
This led to a brawl and Nikki along with three of his friends brutally thrashed Padam Singh. As locals came to his rescue, the
accused fled the spot.
Singh returned home and according to his wife, though he was injured his condition did not seem to be very serious.
However, his condition deteriorated late in the night and his family members rushed him to a nearby hospital. After initial check-up, doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday night. On Thursday, Singh’s wife Usha approached the police and filed a complaint against Nikki and his three friends. “Junk dealer Nikki had an argument with my husband on May 23. He along with his friend Mithun and two others, then, thrashed him brutally. This led to his
death on Wednesday. I want strict action to be taken against them,” Usha said.
An
FIR was registered against the four accused under sections 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), 302 (murder) of the
IPC at Rajendra park police station on Thursday.
“Padam Singh was from Bihar and lived here with his family. We have registered an FIR and are investigating the case. The accused will be arrested soon,” said inspector Rohtash, SHO of Rajendra park police station.
