Thiruvananthapuram: While their classmates and friends enjoy the summer break, this bunch of bright minds is busy discussing their
business ideas.
Twelve students of KV UPS School, an aided-school at Pangode in Palode sub-district near Kallara, are running an IT firm called Talrop Grolius on the
school campus.
All of them were trained by school alumni Anas Abdul Gafoor, Safeer Najumudheen and Shameer, who are at the helm of the firm called Talrop Educations Private Limited. They had visited their alma mater with an aim to provide training on technology, coding, etc to schoolgoers. “After selecting the 12
students who showed the aptitude, Safeer started training them by teaching the basics of technology. They picked it up fast and started learning programming languages such as HTML and Javascript. To our surprise, students of Class VII and VIII started learning Python, the high-level programming language. Soon, we formed ‘Talrop Grolius’, which means ‘grow like us’,” said Gafoor.
According to Haleela Fatima, the student chief executive officer (CEO), said they have developed websites and
software for local businesses. “Now, most of us have passed out from KV UPS. However, our company continues to function on the school campus. All of us live close to the school. Our clients are mostly local schools and tuition centres. Our next aim is to develop an e-learning platform for students,” said Haleela, who will join Class X at Govt HSS Kummil, Kallara.
Mahadev Ratheesh, Class VIII student of Govt VHSS Kallara and chief technology officer of the firm, said the process of learning and developing technology has made them more confident to take up a career in IT sector. “I am interested in Robotics. We plan to expand our services in that field,” he said.
