2 make ‘threatening’ TikTok video in front of police station, 1 arrested

Tirupur: Police on Saturday arrested an accused in a criminal case for making a video in front of the Madathukulam police station that threatened the victim and uploading it in micro-vlogging app TikTok.
K Duraipandi of Kaniyur, who was working in a petrol pump on Palani Road in Madathukulam near Udumalpet, was arrested recently for attacking S Babu, an autorickshaw driver. He was subsequently released on bail and was directed to sign the register at the Madathukulam police every day.
“On May 27, Duraipandi arrived at the station along with his colleague Prakash. After coming out of the station, the duo recorded a selfie video, added a music track and uploaded it in Tiktok. The lyrics of the background song warned those who dare to give testimony in court against the duo, threatening to hack them to death,” an officer said.
The video was widely circulated in other social media platforms besides TikTok.

Babu lodged a fresh complaint against Duraipandi and Prakash for intimidating him and demanded action against them.
Police added 506 (ii) of IPC with the first case and booked both. They arrested Duraipandi and are on the lookout for Prakash.
