As India votes, here are 5 firsts of Lok Sabha Elections 2019

Bhopal: The state government is trying to postpone elections of urban bodies and panchayats following debacle in the recent Lok Sabha polls. Urban body elections are scheduled to be held in November. The government has started delimitation process and is planning to postpone elections in the name of delimitation. The BJP is a dominating force in municipal corporations across the state. Most of municipalities and city councils are held by the saffron party. With the outcome of Lok Sabha elections, it is now clear that the Congress would not perform significantly in the elections.

It is under consideration to get administrator appointed in urban bodies which are near to complete their term and conduct elections after six months. It is mandatory to conduct elections within six months in cases where term of urban bodies expires. Several Congress leaders have conveyed it to the top party leadership to get these elections postponed in the interest of party. The BJP has won 28 seats in the Lok Sabha elections following impact of Modi and anti-incumbency at the state level. Resentment of people is rising due to power crisis and other reasons. The process of delimitation for urban bodies and panchayats will begin from Saturday. The process may be extended so as to delay the urban body elections.
