Search for hit-run driver after man killed at Notting Hill

Police are searching for a hit-run driver after a man was killed at Notting Hill in Melbourne's south-east on Saturday night.

Police said the pedestrian was struck near a bus stop in Ferntree Gully Road, near Forster Road, about 7.45pm.

The driver of the unknown vehicle did not stop.

The victim was treated at the scene but could not be saved.

His death brings the number of lives lost on Victoria's roads to 138, 50 more than the same time last year.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
