THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Teachers’ organizations owing allegiance to opposition parties have decided to come up with open protest against the implementation of Khader commission recommendation to integrate secondary, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary divisions.
The opposition teachers’ organizations have also decided to approach the court against the government’s decision to implement the key recommendations of the report.
As part of this, the protesting teachers will not participate in the state-level and district-level school reopening celebrations on June 6.
They have also decided to boycott the reopening celebrations of higher secondary reopening celebrations.
The teachers will also conduct march to the assembly on June 20, which will be inaugurated by opposition leader
Ramesh Chennithala.
Chennithala said that the government was trying to push the red agenda in education through the unilateral implementation of the Khader committee report.
He said that he had written to the chief minister and the education minister that the matter should be discussed with all the political parties, but the government chose to ignore it.
“The report has been prepared under the interest of the Left-leaning teachers’ organizations with a political motive. The government is trying to force the changes despite a large section of school managements, students’ organizations and teachers are against the implementation of the report,” Chennithala said.
