Bhopal: Coaching centres’ experts may be engaged in government colleges


BHOPAL: Higher education minister Jitu Patwari has suggested that prestigious coaching centres and their expert faculty members should be engaged in government colleges to provide quality education. This suggestion came in a review meeting of the department with CM Kamal Nath on Friday. Patwari suggested that space in college campuses may be provided to prestigious coaching centres or to their expert faculty members.  These experts can provide tips to students of the government colleges to enhance their career prospects. He said that state run colleges have enough space and it could be let out after classes.

Pilot project could be done at colleges located in district and divisional level. Agreeing to the proposal, CM Kamal Nath said that all coaching centres in state should be registered and best centres could be used for the betterment of state run college students. CM advised the officials of higher education department to prepare a detailed project report to involve coaching centres on PPP mode.

CM suggests development of knowledge corporation
CM focused more on quality education and skill development programmes. He proposed constituting a Knowledge Corporation in state to facilitate skill development programmes- linked to employment.

Focus on quality of edu, jobs
Nath said instead of focussing on quantity emphasis should be laid on quality and it should be seen that the programme and courses run by government prove beneficial for the students. Courses should be job oriented, he stressed.

Generate resources at college level
CM asked the officials to generate resources at college level to provide latest education to the students. Once can use Corporate Social Resources for this objective and contact corporate houses in the regions.

‘Increase GER in tribal & backward areas
Nath has asked the higher education department to prepare a plan to increase Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of students in tribal and backward areas.

Teachers recruitment, Skill Univ and Career Portal
He also asked the department to focus on recruitment of teachers, establishing a Skill University, Common Career Portal and to create institutions like College of Excellence, IIT and IIM in state.
