The incident took place at Sedgefield Cemetery near Singleton on Friday night.
Police were looking for a vehicle which was seen parked in the graveyard about 7pm.

'Officers are attending to the crime scene and investigation is in progress,' a police officer at Hunter Valley Police District told Daily Mail Australia.
Police were asking residents or any witnesses if there was any suspicious activity in the area.
