As ‘Pray for Neasamani’ memes continue to trend on social media, knitwear manufacturers in Tirupur have capitalised on it and have begun to manufacture T-shirts with ‘Pray for Contractor Neasamani’ printed on it under an image of Tamil film comedian Vadivelu and a ‘suthial’ (hammer).

The sale of Neasamani t-shirts has been conducted mostly online and is yet to find a place in the retail stores.
“The demand for the t-shirts may continue as long as Neasamani memes trend in social media. Once something else gains popularity, then demand for these T-shirts may dip. So we cannot not make them in bulk. Also shops don’t risk stocking these t-shirts as the process takes a few days’ time and people may lose interest in it by then,” he added.
The T-shirts have been prized at Rs 250.
“We managed to sell 150 pieces of Neasamani T-shirts on Thursday. Another 100 t-shirts are ready to be delivered to our customers. Orders have come, mainly from people in metros such as Chennai, Kochi, Bengaluru, and even Dubai,” said R Vimal, who runs VWKA Custom Wear in Tirupur.
