A popular brand of dairy-free vegan ice cream has been recalled from shelves after it was found to include dairy.

Two varieties of It's Vegan Gelato were recalled from shelves at IGA stores in Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and South Australia.

The recall includes 500ml coconut vanilla with a use by date of February 27, 2021 and the 500ml black carbon coconut with a use by date of January 11, 2021.

Both varieties of ice cream have the potential to cause medical issues for those with a dairy allergy or intolerance, who bought the product believing it was dairy-free.

Customers who suffer from these medical conditions should not eat the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
