Surat: Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) carried out searches at the residence of a head constable of city traffic police, Kiritsinh Rathod, after he was suspended from duty two days ago for abusing the PM and claiming to loot the government.
After a video of his abuses went viral on Thursday Rathod was suspended by deputy commissioner of traffic Sudhir Desai under police commissioner Satish Sharma’s orders.
ACB officials conducted the search at Rathod’s residence in Jahangirpura area as part of a preliminary inquiry ordered by senior ACB officials on charges of Rathod having disproportionate assets more than his income. Rathod has a tainted job track record and he was posted in traffic police as punishment, police sources informed. “Based on the search and seizure at Rathod’s residence further actions will be decided based on the findings,” ACB officer said.
Rathod was earlier caught on camera using abusive language for the government and PM Modi. Preliminary inquiry revealed he was on duty when a traffic offender advised him to resign if he was not comfortable in the job. Due to the language used by a uniformed personnel, senior police officials of the city took immediate action and suspended him. An inquiry has also been ordered against Rathod and further actions will be taken, ACB sources added.
