Thanjavur chaiwala celebrates return of Narendra Modi by selling tea for a rupee

Rajasekar arranged 20 litres of milk to make the tea and was seen egging on his customers to have a cup.
THANJAVUR: A tea vendor of Peravurani in Thanjavur celebrated the beginning of Narendra Modi’s second innings as Prime Minister in style on Thursday when he served tea at just a rupee a cup to hundreds of tea drinkers here. Rajasekar, 55, would have foregone a cool Rs 4,200 for about 600 cups of tea he served during the day since he usually sells it at Rs 8 a cup.
So what? asks the self-professed fan of the chaiwala-to-chowkidar PM. “I was only expressing my joy over the second coming of Narendra Modi”, he said. Rajasekar has been running Saravana Tea Stall in front of Peravurani sub registrar office for several years.
On Thursday, he arranged 20 litres of milk to make the tea and was seen egging on his customers to have a cup. On coming to know about the celebration, many BJP members also trooped in to partake of the heavily subsidized tea. But it were the regular customers who felt a pleasant surprise when they were charged just a rupee for a cup.

Rajasekar said he didn’t consider it a sacrifice to give up about Rs 4,200 of his modest income as he felt that Modi had performed well during his first term.
“I became an ardent fan of the PM four years ago after being drawn to his principles and various schemes. I closely hear his speeches and have been impressed by his ambition to develop the country. Hence, when he got a second term, I was delighted and decided to share my joy with my customers” he added.
