Duo nabbed by NIA printed fake currency at home

Gurgaon: The two men nabbed by NIA with fake currency, which has a face value of Rs 1,20,00,000 printed the notes at their home in Singar village in Nuh district of Mewat. During their interrogation, the duo revealed they designed the Rs 2,000 notes on their laptop and used their own scanner and printer to print the same. The production was carried out at the home of Kasim (44) while Wasim (20) said that he was involved in the business from Kasim’s home.
Police produced the duo in a city court and have taken them on seven-day remand. Two mobile phones and an SD card were also seized from them. The duo was nabbed on Wednesday night from Sohna road while they were waiting to sell the fake currency. Sources said they had finalised a deal of Rs 40 lakh with a buyer over phone. Police are now searching for the buyer.
An FIR has been registered against the duo at the Sadar police station under IPC sections 489-A (counterfeiting currency notes) and 34 (common intention). NIA inspector Vishwa Dev said the agency received a tip-off about the racket. A team led by Dev, which had inspector Harender Kumar Yadav, sub-inspector Neeraj Sharma among others as its members reached Gurgaon and nabbed the duo in Sector 48.
Sources said the terror-funding angle was being probed as the ink used to print the notes was obtained from Pakistan. However, the duo has insisted that they are not part of any gang and don’t have any terror links, and have been selling fake currency for the past six months to make quick money.

“This time, we were selling the notes for Rs 40 lakh and the deal was to conclude on the road. We were waiting for the buyer,” they added. NIA is trying to identify all the buyers associated with the accused. “We are trying to find out when they started the business,” said inspector Dalbir, SHO, Sadar police station.
According to police, Kasim worked as an electrician while Wasim is a Class 12 student and son of a government school principal.
