- The Cullinan, launched globally in October 2018, costs around $345,000-$400,000 in the US and around $315,757 (250,000 pounds) in the UK
- In Singapore, one of the high-tax markets where the Cullinan has debuted, it costs around $919,813

CHENNAI: The Rolls Royce Cullinan, with its eye-watering price tag of Rs 6.95 crore, is one of the most expensive cars on Indian roads alongside multicrore stable mates like the Rolls Royce Phantom, Dawn, Ghost and Wraith as well as the Ferrari 812 Superfast, Lamborghini Aventador S, Bentley Flying Spur and the Maybach S600 among others.
However, the super luxury SUV’s India price tag also makes it among the most expensive anywhere in the world thanks to a more than 200% duty burden. The Cullinan, launched globally in October 2018, costs around $345,000-$400,000 in the US and around $315,757 (250,000 pounds) in the UK. In Singapore, one of the high-tax markets where the Cullinan has debuted, it costs around $919,813.
The Indian price tag converted to dollars (around $994,361) is higher still at just short of a million dollars.
“There are high-tax markets in Asia like Singapore and Indonesia where the price of the car is higher whereas the US has low duties so the price reflects that. In India, the duty is more than 200%,” said Vasanthi Bhupati of Rolls Royce’ principal Chennai dealer Kun Motors. The Cullinan’s price in Indonesia, she said, is “even higher than India because of the duty structure.”
But the India tag is certainly “up there”.
