Candidates advised furnish poll expense details before June 17

Coimbatore: Poll expenditure observers will camp in the city from June 17 to verify the expenditure details of all the 28 candidates contested from Coimbatore and Pollachi parliament constituencies. The candidates are advised to file their expenditure details soon to the respective officials. If they fail, they won’t be able to contest elections for the next three years.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) had earlier fixed the upper limit of expenditure by a candidate at Rs 70 lakh. The ECI had appointed two expenditure observers for each parliament constituency and they had taken stock of election campaigns held in their respective jurisdictions.
Now, the candidates have to file the poll expenditure details before the officials at the district collectorate on or before June 17.

Sources said DMK, BJP, CPM, MNM and Naam Tamilar Katchi candidates had submitted the expenditure details to their auditors and they would submit the final expenditure details to the officials soon.
The 22 candidates contested from Sulur assembly are also advised to furnish the expenditure details before June 17. Their expenditure limit was earlier fixed at Rs 28 lakh per head. tnn
