Suspected explosive triggers panic at Bengaluru City railway station

The grenade was handed over to the Bomb Disposal Squad.
BENGALURU: Panic gripped Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru City railway station on Friday after a suspected explosive resembling a grenade was spotted near platform no. 1.
"Railway Security Control received information at 8.45am of a hand grenade being found near trolley path on platform no 1 of the station," said South Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer E Vijaya.
"Railway Protection Force immediately swung into action. The area was cordoned off. Senior railway officers including Divisional Railway Manager Bengaluru have reached the spot. Divisional Security Commissioner led the team of Railway Security force to thoroughly search the entire premises including trains," said Vijaya.
Train movement except on platform no 1 and 2 were normal. "The recovered grenade was handed over to the bomb disposal squad at 9.55am. After thorough checking, normal operations have been restored fully."

Railway workforce has been put on alert and intensive checks at the entrance , platforms, train coaches and at parcel office are being conducted.
Meanwhile, city police commissioner T Suneel Kumar along with Government Railway Police (GRP) officials visited the spot. However, several trains at the stations were delayed following the incident causing severe inconveniences to the passengers.
