Parshottam Rupala

Parshottam Khodabhai Rupala, 64, is a veteran BJP leader from the Patel community in Gujarat. He was the Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare since September 2017. He served as a member of the Rajya Sabha (2008-09) and was re-elected in 2016.

Born on October 1, 1954, to Hariben and Khodabhai Rupala, he earned his B.Sc. and B.Ed. degrees and served as a teacher until 1983. Later, he joined the BJP, became State BJP Secretary in 1992 and served three terms as a BJP MLA until 2002. He also served the BJP Government in Gujarat as a minister in different capacities.

Married to Savitaben (1979), they have a son and daughter.
