The special investigation team probing the authenticity of a set of documents that were allegedly fabricated to defame Cardinal George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly, continued the interrogation of Fr. Paul Thelakkat and Fr. Antony Kallookaran, the first and fourth accused in the case, for the second consecutive day on Friday.
The questioning was shifted from the Aluva DySP’s office to the North cyber station on the second day. According to informed sources, the laptops of both the priests were examined by a team involving cyber experts. It is suspected that Adithyan, another accused in the case, had mailed the allegedly forged documents to them. The mails sent and received by the priests were reportedly looked into. It is learned that plans were afoot to interrogate them in the presence of Adithyan.
The police said that while the priests were cooperating with the questioning, it was premature to say whether they were involved in any way in the alleged forgery.
The priests were subjected to nearly six hours of interrogation on Thursday.
