Mumbai: 'Free Water On Wheels' initiative gives out 29,000 packaged drinking water to people

A van with the bottles of water is going around the city to help the public beat the heat.
MUMBAI: Over 29,000 bottles packed with drinking water have been distributed free of cost to the public in different areas of Mumbai in an initiative called `Free Water On Wheels'. A van with the bottles of water is going around the city to help the public beat the heat.
"This initiative of SBI General Insurance Company is organized keeping in mind the need for water in the hot afternoons, especially for those working on the streets; such as traffic police personnel, dabba wallas, delivery guys, watchmen, auto and taxi drivers among others,'' said a spokesperson.

Some of the areas covered by the van are Chembur, Ghatkopar, Mohd Ali Road, Andheri, Goregaon, Mumbai Central, Grant Road station, Saifee hospital, Churchgate station, Gateway on India, among others.
The van will also be coming to Navi Mumbai on the June 3 to distribute water in various city nodes there.
