A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces at Dragad Sugan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday wee hours. As per sources , a joint team army’s 44 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search at Dragad Sugan area during pre-dawn hours today.

A police officer told us that cordon was launched on specific information in the area. As such the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot in the orchards, the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering off a brief exchange of gunfight.

Militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight at Dragad area of Shopian in south Kashmir. An official said that one militant has been killed and operation is on in the area. In intial exchange of fire one militant has been killed and operation is on , he said. He also said that additional reinforcement of army has been rushed to the site.

Earlier a joint team of army’s 44 RR and SOG zanipora launched search operation at Dragad area of zainapora Shopian following inputs about presence of three militants in the area which later turned into gunfight when a searching party was fired upon by hiding militants.
