Thane: Man booked for abetting girlfriend’s suicide

THANE: A Diva man has been booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of his live-in partner last week. The accused has been identified as Dinesh aka Vijay Yadav and is said to be in his mid-20’s. Dinesh was living in with his girlfriend for around one year.
An official from Mumbra police station said, the 23-year-old victim and the accused were residents of Uttar Pradesh. The duo eloped after the victim’s parent’s objected to her relationship. The couple then came to Thane in June 2018 and lived in Diva. Dinesh was a married man and had a child too, but the victim was unaware of this.
According to the police, the accused was jobless and used to come home drunk everyday. He used to then beat up the victim. Dinesh used to forced the victim to give him money. When she ran out of money, the victim called her mother to borrow some. Initially, her mother obliged, but later she also expressed her inability to provide money. The vitim had not revealed to her family about her whereabouts. SHe She only told them that she was happy, said senior inspector Madhukar Kad.

A couple of days later, the victim learnt that Dinesh was a married man and had a child. He also used to frequently visit them in UP. When she questioned him, the accused beat her up. On May 21, the victim ended her life by hanging herself to the celing fan. Doctors said that she was three months pregnant, the police said.
“A police team will be sent to UP to arrest the accused,” said Kad. A case has been registered under section 306 of the IPC.
