\'We stress fan safety here\': Mallards management reacts to girl hit by foul ball

First at four....a video has a lot of people talking today... a four-year-old girl is still recovering down in houston after being hit by a foul ball.

We wonderedow teams around here are protecting your family during games... dannika lewis joins us now with more on that.

If you haven't seen this yet... it is cringeworthy... particularly for any parent.

A line drive foul flies straight into the stands... by some esimates, going 90 miles an hour... off the bat of chicago cubs outfielder albert almora, junior.

:53 the four-year- old girl is expected to be okay... and almora says he wants to meet her once she's out of the hospital.

The mallards ballpark here in madison was rebuilt back in 20-11.

With that came closer seating... and high-grade nets that protect most of the fans sitting in the stadium's 3-thousand grandstand seats.

Tyler isham/general manager, madison mallards: 20 we certainly built it so you could be close and on top of the action, but with that comes less time to react to things, and so when we did that, we knew we had to put netting up.

36 mallards management has actually gotten complaints from fans who frequent the duck pond... asking them to scale back the amount of netting so they can see the game better.

But they say fan safety has to come first.

Parents... the mallards franchise also wants to remind you to stay attentive during games and stay off your phone when the ball's in play.

At miller park, by the way... the netting extends just beyond the dugouts on either side of the field... something the m-l-b required every team to do last year.
